About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for a tech-savvy, strategic, analytical and process/system driven individual.
As the Manager of Operations, you will manage the firm’s day-to-day operations, ensuring that sound operational policies and procedures are in place, and contributing to a culture of cost-effectiveness through the organization.
You will oversee all aspects of our human resources administration, finance, information technology systems, and physical facilities. You will work closely with the relevant partners to support business/strategic planning, practice management, and marketing activities. You will support overseeing 20+ staff including bargaining units and supporting associate lawyers and partners.
The successful candidate will report to the Co-Managing Partners and the Executive Committee.
esponsibilities include, but are not limited to:
People Operations (HR) Leadership and Management
Manage human resources policies, procedures, and plans to foster a positive, collaborative, and welcoming work environment
Oversee all aspects of the life cycle of employees from the development and execution of staff recruitment, retention, training and development, recognition strategies to supporting with the grievance policy and exit interviews for the legal, paralegal and support staff, including unionized staff
Operations and Marketing
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity
Conduct data analysis and generate reports to measure operational performance
Analyze and optimize legal workflows to identify areas for improvement and cost savings
Provide strategic guidance and support to legal leadership on operational matters
Support with the planning internal firm events, client events, marketing legal services and enhance the firm’s visibility in the desired markets
Financial Management
Works with the Accounting Department and Accounting Manager to engage in all aspects of accounting and financial management functions, including: budgeting, variance analysis, and general support with general ledger accounting, billing and collections, cash flow control, trust accounting, payroll, and pension.
Monitor budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and accountability
Systems Management
Work with the Partner(s) responsible for Information Technology to oversee the selection, implementation, and maintenance of legal technology solutions that support the law firm's overall operations and legal service delivery and maintain legal and privacy compliance
Identify and evaluate emerging legal technologies and industry trends
Facilities Management
Provide oversight and management of the facility and assets, including: space planning and design, purchasing, inventory control, records storage, reception services, telecommunications, mail, etc.
Support the Joint Health and Safety Committee with maintaining a safe work environment
Manage relationships with all third party vendors
