Canada's Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1955 to preserve the record of Canadian sports achievements and to promote a greater awareness of our nation's heritage of sport.

In addition, Canada's Sports Hall of Fame will recognize and honour persons who, by their achievements, have brought distinction to Canada in their sport or by their contribution to the development and advancement of sport and athletic endeavour in Canada.

Operated by a volunteer Board of Governors, the museum will collect, preserve, research, exhibit and interpret a collection of artifacts relating specifically to its Honoured Members, and artifacts of historical significance to the history and development of sport in Canada.
